John Bico, former agent and current counselor of Thorgan Hazard, has hit out at Zulte Waregem on their handling of the latter’s proposed move to Anderlecht.
Speaking to Sportmagazine.be, the Cameroonian gave his thoughts on the issue.
I deeply regret the attitude of Zulte Waregem in this affair. Â
ÂThorgan has behaved professionally from the beginning. He has repeatedly told his coach during his internship that he wanted to leave. After the first game, he persisted. Nevertheless, he is always performing at its best level. He is one hundred percent professional, and even more. Â
ÂThe moral of the story is simple: behave as well as possible, be with everyone correctly and youâre left with empty hands. âBelgian football is the big loser in this case, it will still turn out later.Â
ÂZulte Waregem got Thorgan Hazard for zero Euros, itâs that simple. No rent for Chelsea, no commissions for Bico.Â
ÂDuring the Olympic Games in London, we negotiated with Patrick Decuyper (former managing director at Zulte) for five minutes. After an outstanding season he gave everyone, Thorgan told the board he wanted to leave. I then told him that he could stay for even six months, but now itâs there to see what has come ⦠Â
ÂAgain, he hasnât cost the club a penny. I also didnât ask a cent commission. I had hoped that the board of the club would be correct and would say: âWe would like to keep Thorgan, but weâll let him go and wish him good luck!â. But it lacked class and respect. Everyone, clubs and agents, knows now, the philosophy at Zulte Waregem. Â
Increasingly clear that Chelsea and Bico wonât be doing any business with Zulte Waregem anytime soon.
