Many sources today have been linking Chelsea with a shock move for Nigerian World Cup star Emmanuel Emineke.
The 27-year old forward is currently at Turkish side, Fenerbahce, scoring 11 times in 23 starts for the club this season. Emineke is still at the World Cup with Nigeria, who progressed to the knockout stages last night; the Nigerian’s style of play at the tournament has reportedly attracted Jose Mourinho’s interest, and sources suggest the club are now ready to make a bid.
Metro reports that Turkish newspaper, Fanatik, have suggested Mourinho is ready to make an offer this week.
Metro, Express and IBT suggest the deal could be worth £16m if it were to go through, which would leave Fenerbahce with a generous profit, after purchasing the player from Spartak Moscow for $10m only last year.
Those watching Nigeria in the World Cup will recognise Emineke for his pace and powerful presence, despite the striker struggling to score in the tournament so far; the forward would certainly have to prove himself if he were to make the switch to the Premier League.
Do you believe Emineke would work well at the club? Is his price tag justified?
