Chelsea winger sparks loan interest

Christian Atsu spent last season out on loan alongside a host of Blues’ players at Vitesse Arnhem, but recent reports suggest that the winger will not be returning to the Dutch League next season.

Atsu was brought to the Club from F.C. Porto last summer – before being sent straight out on loan; the winger was one of Mourinho’s first signings, costing the club a reported £3.5m, and earning himself a 5-year deal at the Bridge.

The Ghana international enjoyed a fantastic season at Vitesse, featuring in 26 of their games in the Eredivisie, scoring 5. Before that, Atsu netted 8 in 9 games at Porto in the 2012/13 season, perhaps justifying the attraction of Jose.

The 22 year-old offers the Blues something a little different – the kind of fast and direct approach which brings back memories of the Robben & Duff days. Atsu likes to cut inside or run straight at the full back, be it on either side of the pitch; there’s no doubt his kind of service would not go amiss next season.

The winger has impressed at the World Cup for Ghana, with perhaps his most memorable performance coming against USA, where he was unquestionably one of the best players on the pitch.

Atsu has sparked interest from a host a Premier League clubs, after reports that he would like to spend another year in Holland.

What happens to my future after the World Cup will be decided at the right time.

Despite Atsu’s versatility and crowd-pleasing approach, the attacking midfield slot is still the most highly contested in the squad, and whether he will be sent out on loan again will remain in the balance.

I for one would love to see the player at the Bridge next season, as I feel Atsu and Schurrle are the perfect impact players, which is perhaps what we lacked at times last year.
