Andre Schurrle has dismissed reports linking Atletico Madrid with a summer move for his services, insisting he is not interested in a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Schurrle only signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of 17m just last summer and is expected to play a key role for Chelsea this season.
La Liga champions Atletico Madrid opened talks with Chelsea over a potential deal for Andre Schurrle after his impressive performance in the World Cup 2014. However, Schurrle is adamant that he will not be making a move to Vicente Calderon this summer.
âNo,â the World Cup winner said. âI am very happy at Chelsea. This is where I want to play, and this is where I want to play for the fans. There is nothing more to say.â
The 23-year-old started the new Premier League season with an impressive performance against Burnley while notching up a goal in the process, stated: âI think even when I played last season it was good because I scored a few goals and played in some big matches, but of course I feel more comfortable in the team.Â
âEven after the World Cup I want to step up, I want to have the ball, I want to play, I want to run. I think you can see it on the pitch that itâs a different game and I enjoy playing like this. I hope I keep going like this and get better.Â
âI enjoyed the World Cup a lot, so I got out of that with a lot of confidence. I came back to Chelsea and obviously had a very short break. I was only two-and-a-half weeks at the ocean and could relax. But from zero to 100 â I am hungry, I want to achieve something with Chelsea. I want to win titles with Chelsea, so I worked hard these two weeks.Â
I think it was a good start for me, but of course we can be better, and when I am 100 percent fit, there will be more.
SchurrleÂs goal against Burnley came after a sublime pass from Cesc Fabregas which included a total of 25 passes leading up to it.
Schurrle added: âI think a player like Cesc, every team wants him, so we are happy that he decided for Chelsea. We are happy that he is a Blue now.â
