Cech told to find new club

With what seems to be an on-going battle between the two best keepers in the Premier League, reports suggest that Chelsea are willing to sell club legend, Petr Cech.

According to ‘GoalÂ’, Chelsea have told the Czech international to find a new club as Courtois is to be installed as the new number one at Stamford Bridge. It is believed that Mourinho is willing to put his faith in the young Belgian over the experienced Czech international ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, spelling the end of CechÂ’s 10 year long reign as the Blues number one stopper.

Cech, who has been the number one between the sticks for the past decade, is being encouraged to find a new club, after it has been revealed that Courtois will be the number one keeper for the upcoming campaign, and is being heavily tipped to start ahead of Cech for the BlueÂ’s curtain raiser against Burnley on Monday. Chelsea are believed to be pushing for a transfer this season as Cech has two years remaining on his contract, and Chelsea stand to benefit financially if they cash in now, rather than next season where they would under pressure to sell, or even the season after, when Cech becomes a free agent.

Furthermore, Chelsea currently have 18 foreigners registered, with Premier League rules stipulating that clubs are only permitted to have 17 foreigners over the age of 21 in their 25 man squad. This means that Mourinho still has to ship out one non home grown player to comply with Premier League rules, and it seems as if Cech is the one on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are willing to accept offers around the £9 million mark with Cech still widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in world football. The West London keeper is no short of suitors, with moneybags PSG, Real Madrid and Monaco all being heavy linked with shot stopper.

Since joining from Rennes, Cech has become a stalwart at the club, having played 479 appearances for the club, with over 150 clean sheets, and has won the Champions League, Europa League, three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his tenure in West London.
