Jose Mourinho has revealed that Diego Costa has a ‘chance’ of playing when Chelsea travel to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The striker, who has already bagged nine goals this season for The Blues, has been struggling with a hamstring injury and more recently suffered a virus that saw his hospitalised last week.
It was widely believed that Didier Drogba would be the frontman for Mourinho at Old Trafford after Loic Remy injured himself whilst scoring the opener against Maribor in midweek.
However, the Chelsea boss has given fans hope that they could see Diego Costa return to the side earlier than expected.
Speaking during the pre match news conference, Mourinho said:
âEverything has happened to him.â
But he has a little chance of playing. We are trying.
Costa hasnât featured for the last two games and hasnât been training at full pace since he first arrived at Chelsea, as Mourinho revealed earlier on in the campaign.
âDiego was injured and then he had to go to the hospital with a viral situation,â Mourinho added.
âThe problem is that being ill obviously didnât help his recovery process because we didnât want him at the training ground.â
âThe medical staff were going to meet him at his house,â he finished.
Chelsea have faced a mini injury crisis of late but will still be defending their unbeaten run when they travel to Manchester to face Louis van Gaalâs side.
Ramires and Andre Schurrle are expected to return from injury alongside John Obi Mikel but Chelsea will have to live without Cesar Azpilicueta who begins his three game suspension after his red card at Crystal Palace.
