Although Costa can’t speak much English, Mourinho has said Costa is one of the best at communicating in the Chelsea squad. He’s always in the correct positions around the box and the players know exactly where he wants the balls.
His form last season helped Chelsea become Premier League champions as he scored 20 goals in 26 games in the league.
Mourinho has made it very clear to the Chelsea squad that they need to keep improving in order to retain the title this season and Costa seems very motivated to meet the clubs targets.
Of course I know that 20 goals is a decent total but I will be trying to improve upon that figure. In life you have to keep improving and working hard.
Last season I suffered with injuries and this time around I hope to remain fit. Let’s hope my goals help us win some silverware. There’s no value scoring goals and not winning a trophy.

Helping him achieve the clubs targets will be another striker, our new loan signing Radamel Falcao. The two players have previously played with each other at Atletico Madrid and the pair form a strong partnership both on and off the pitch.
Costa knows the class the Colombian possesses and he’s confident Chelsea fans will see the Falcao of Atletico Madrid.
It’s good for us that he didn’t have the best of seasons [at Manchester United] as that’s why he’s now with us. We know that Falcao is a hugely talented player.
The only thing he needs is to feel loved and trusted, and he will get both here. The manager is very happy to have brought him in and we are all very excited to have him in our squad because he’s a great player.
