According to the London Evening Standard, Premier League champions Chelsea are closing in on the highly-rated FC Augsburg left back, Abdul Rahman Baba, who would be Filipe Luis’ replacement.
Over the course of his time in top-flight German football, the 21-year-old Ghanian international has just kept maturing and growing, with many tipping him for a big future.
The reliable Di Marzio had last night reported that Brazilian left back Filipe Luis, who has only been at Chelsea for a year, is set to put pen-to-paper on a two year loan deal, with an option to make it permanent, at is former side Atletico Madrid.
Filipe Luis only managed to make nine Premier League starts for Jose Mourinho last season, as the Portuguese boss clearly favours playing Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back, with Branislav Ivanovic on the right.
With the arrival of Baba said to me imminent, the youngster will have to prove himself at every opportunity to give Mourinho headache when it comes to selection in the left-back role.
Otherwise, the youngster will just be sitting on the bench, halting his progress. He may be on a hinge RE: moving to Stamford Bridge now, but he is confident he can go on to win plenty of silverware with the West London club.
