Zouma: It’s not his fault, he’s not on the pitch

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has echoed his skipper John Terry words that manager Jose Mourinho is not to blame for the Blues’ disappointing start to the season.

The Premier League champions have lost six of their 11 league matches already this season, leaving them 15th in the table, while they were also knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke.

Mourinho’s future at Stamford Bridge has been called to question, but John Terry backed his boss and put blame squarely at the doors of his colleagues.

Zouma made the switch from full-back to centre-half on Wednesday evening, as Chelsea claimed a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev thanks to a late Willian free-kick.

That brought to an end a run of three straight defeats in domestic competitions, with Zouma adding that the fault for those losses should fall firmly on the shoulders of the players.

The mood in the dressing room is always good. There is no tension and no players are speaking against each other. We are all together with the manager as well and we want him to stay. It’s not his fault because he’s not on the pitch. We have to think about our game.
