Chelsea vs Sunderland: Predicted XI

It has been a hard week for Chelsea fans after their club lost2-1 at Leicester and ‘The special one’ was sacked after the club having already got 9 defeats in the league and it’s only December.

Tensions are running high in the club after few players refused to speak to Mourinho as he said his final goodbyes at Cobham on Friday afternoon.

Guus Hiddink has reportedly held talks with Chelsea as the Dutch international looks to take over the Blues for the second time as interim manager. Sky Sports have confirmed that Steve Holland will take charge against Sunderland so a interesting team could be picked.

Goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois: The Belgian will retain his spot in the team despite looking rusty against Leicester. Chelsea will need their best keeper between the sticks in a very important game.

Defenders

RB – Cesar Azpilicueta: Mourinho never liked to play Azpi at right back but Steve Holland may think otherwise and could start the Spaniard in this position.

CB – Kurt Zouma & John Terry: This partnership looked very shaky against Leicester and even had Diego Costa having ago at them after Jamie Vardy scored his 15th goal of the season. The pair should continue in defence but Gary Cahill could come in for JT.

LB – Abdul Baba Rahman: The Ghanaian full back could find his way back into the Chelsea line up against Sunderland. Ivanovic’s form is still dipping so Baba could come in at left back with Azpilicueta going right back.

Midfield

CDM – Nemanja Matic: Matic was another player who looked shaky against Leicester but is bound to keep his place as he is a vital players for the team.

CM – Oscar & Ruben  Loftus-Cheek: With Fabregas being incredibly woeful this season, our midfield are in need of a creative midfielder which Oscar could provide; his work rate could cement his place in the side. Oscar and Matic will need another partner in the midfield and that man could be youngster: Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Steve Holland is part of the coaching staff for the England u21 team and also works with the box to box midfielder on a day to day basis so RLC could get his chance to finally prove himself.

Strikers

RW – Willian: The player that kept Mourinho in his job for as long as he did, the silky Brazilian will be our biggest threat and will be looking to make some changes for a striker to put away.

CF – Loic Remy: Diego Costa has been one of worst performing players this season and after his goal against Leicester, he could’ve made his way into the starting XI.

LW - Pedro: Eden Hazard picked up an injury against Leicester on Monday night and hasn’t trained with the main squad all week so Pedro may get his chance. Kenedy is also in contention for a starting place.
