Chelsea vs West Brom – Match Preview

Preview

Chelsea welcome West Brom to Stamford Bridge off the back of back to back wins in the Premier League and FA Cup.

Surprisingly West Brom sit higher than Chelsea going into tomorrow’s midweek fixture. However a win for Chelsea would see us overtake Tony Pulis’ side on goal difference.

Under Guus Hiddink Chelsea are unbeaten in all competitions and Chelsea have certainly improved in terms of performances, most notably Diego Costa who has scored 4 goals in 3 games under Hiddink (if you count the opener against Scunthorpe). The striker’s presence will be a big boost for Chelsea tomorrow after Hiddink declared him fit to play.

In this fixture last season we won 2-0 thanks to goals from both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa and hopefully that will be the outcome tomorrow!

Come on Chelsea!

Match details

Wednesday 13th January, kick off at 7:45pm (UK Time) at Stamford Bridge.

Recent form

Chelsea are unbeaten in our last 5 games having won 3 of those vs Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Scunthorpe. The two draws were back to back vs Watford then Manchester United.

West Brom have had mixed form in their last 5 games having won 2 (Newcastle and Stoke), drawn 1 (Bristol) and lost 2 (Bournemouth and Swansea).

Team news

Earlier today Guus Hiddink confirmed Loic Remy is back in training and available for selection tomorrow. He also confirmed Diego Costa is fit to play after picking up a knock in our win vs Scunthorpe. One player who isn’t available tomorrow though is Eden Hazard who is also back in training but isn’t fit enough to train with the rest of the squad.

West Brom have two injury concerns of their own with both Jonas Olsson and Victor Anichebe serious doubts for the game and both unlikely to feature.

My prediction

I think Chelsea will make it 3 wins from 3 and comfortably win tomorrow. Chelsea 2-0 West Brom.
