Chelsea are being linked with a deal for another talented youngster, this time one who is just 16 years old.
Despite his age, the Blues are apparently ready to pay £2m for Ethan Ampadu, who currently plays for Exeter. The youngster is also a Wales U19 international, although he qualifies to play for England and Ghana through his father.
The Daily Mirror report our interest, while also noting that Ampadu’s father Kwame is an under 18s coach at Arsenal.
Ampadu is a defensive midfielder who made his first team debut in August at the age of just 15. He played against Chelsea’s development squad in the Checkatrade Trophy last month and allegedly caught the eye of Chelsea coaches there.
Exeter ran out 3-2 winners and Chelsea were condemned to an early exit from the competition, although it will all be worthwhile should it lead to the signing of young Ampadu – assuming he’s a success.
