Chelsea are prepared to part with £43 million and Cesc Fabregas in order to land PSG’s Marco Verratti according to Mediaset Premium, as reported by Goal.
Medisaset Premium claim that Antonio Conte is desperate to bring Verratti to Stamford Bridge and is willing to offer Fabregas as a makeweight in order to make the move happen.
Fabregas has struggled to break into the starting eleven under Conte so far. He was given the opportunity to impress in the EFL Cup against Leicester, where he duly delivered, scoring a match-winning brace. He was subsequently handed a start against his former side Arsenal in the Premier League, but he was off the pace as we fell to a 3-0 defeat.
The prospect of having Verratti in the middle of the park alongside N’Golo Kante is mouthwatering. He is a player who Conte knows well from his time as manager of the Italy national team.
It’s a pipe dream, but unfortunately one that is unlikely to come to fruition.
