Chelsea weren’t in action this evening, but as has been the case several times in the last few months, the Tottenham Hotspur score had a direct effect on the Blues.
The second placed Spurs put Leicester to the sword at the King Power, smashing the Foxes with only one blot on their performance – a sloppy goal conceded to Ben Chilwell after Hugo Lloris sprinted clear of his box and got bogged down on a wet pitch as he retreated.
Conceding this goal snatched Lloris’ clean sheet away, and ensured that he can finish the season with a maximum of 16 clean sheets. Courtois already has 16, and could make that 17 when Chelsea play Sunderland at the Bridge on Sunday.
If Lloris concedes a goal, Courtois will be outright winner of the Golden Glove award. If Courtois concedes and Lloris doesn’t, the two will split the award.
It’s just rewards for a fantastic season from Courtois, a welcome bounce-back from last year’s struggles.
