Chelsea should target £50m Monaco star to join Bakayoko in French revolution at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea should turn their attention to Monaco full back Benjamin Mendy now their move for Alex Sandro looks more and more far-fetched.

The Frenchman would be an ideal solution at left back, and should be top priority for Antonio Conte’s side despite having been linked for some time with Manchester City.

Just as Chelsea’s push for Juventus wing back Sandro has seemed to grind to a halt; so has Manchester City’s pursuit of Mendy stalled, and this could create an opening for the Blues to steal the Monaco man from under their noses.

The potential ace in Chelsea’s sleeve is the pulling power of Tiemoue Bakayoko, who also made the switch from the French champions this week, as well as that of Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi who was Mendy’s teammate at Marseille.

Mendy would reportedly cost £50m, a sum which is significantly less than what they had bid for Sandro. The Blues would be mad to not at least put some money on the table to try and challenge City’s efforts.
