“I know I made a mistake” – Andreas Christensen admits his error against Barcelona and promises to get better

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen whose costly misplaced pass led to the equalizer at Stamford Bridge by Lionel Messi, Andreas Christensen, has admitted he has learnt from the experience.

The young Dane, who until then had been Chelsea most reliable defender at the back the entire game, and of course, the whole season. His misplaced pass found the feet of Andres Iniesta, who teed up Lionel Messi before tucking home the only goal Barcelona scored in the game.

The game ended 1-1, which effectively handed the advantage in the two-legged tie to Barcelona ahead of the second leg in March.

Having ruined all the hard work he and his teammates had put in ahead of the game, well instructed and guided by Antonio Conte in their training sessions, Christensen was quick to apologize and make a promise he will not get himself in such costly situations again.

“I had done all the hard work and kept the ball in play, but then I made a very bad decision, I should have kicked it out. As a centre-back, you get punished by your mistakes, however, it’s the position that I’ve chosen to play, so I won’t be dwelling too much on it and let it get to me.

I know I made a mistake, but there is not much else to do than to learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Beginning from Chelsea’s game against Manchester United on Sunday, Christensen can show Chelsea fans how fast he can positively react to bad situations like this.
