Chelsea bracing themselves for a number of bids for one of their most important youngsters, if a report by the Daily Mail is to be believed.
The Mail says Ajax are leading the race for the signature of Chelsea wonder kid Mason Mount, who has been out of the Chelsea academy since last summer, playing in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem.
The Dutch club has been a good foster home for Chelsea’s young and upcoming players with a few shining and moving on to better things in their careers, as roles at Chelsea grew limited. The likes of Christian Atsu and Bertrand Traore are some of the recent stars to benefit from the Vitesse loan experience.
As Goal reported, Mount joined Atsu and Slobodan Rajković as Chelsea players on loan at the club to win the Supporters Player of the Year award, after his stunning displays this year.
A similar report by the Sun says PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Werder Bremen are all interested in making him their player next season following his exploits in the Dutch league this term.
It might, however, be in the best interest of Chelsea to keep the 19-year old who has shown promise of performing at equal or better levels in the first team in a few years to come.
