Antonio Conte has been speaking in his usual weekly press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, and he had some interesting comments ahead of the game.
As always, a transfer rumour was brought up, and as always Conte played it with a straight bat, refusing to discuss the whispers this week that Anthony Martial was available this summer and would be a target for Chelsea.

This is nothing new, not only does Conte basically always refuse to answer questions about other team’s players, he also knows he’s unlikely to be around after this summer anyway, so as he says, his focus is just on winning the remaining games and (although obviously he didn’t say this) looking as attractive as possible for clubs who might want to take him on this summer.
Martial signed for Manchester United under Louis Van Gaal in 2015 for an initial £36m, and Chelsea would likely have to pay even more than that given the way transfer fees have inflated ever since. It would be an expensive and risky deal, but if the French forward is available, it might be a risk worth taking.
