Chelsea have been linked with several top players in the transfer window with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Mauro Icardi and Robert Lewandowski all being mentioned as potential targets this summer, but in reality none of these players might arrive at the club.
Consider the stress the club is putting their fans through in naming a new manager of simply backing the one they have at the moment. Antonio Conte is tipped by pundits and some top newspapers in England and Italy to depart Chelsea, but nothing has been said by the club in his defense.
For his replacement Maurizio Sarri has been tipped as the favorite to arrive at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues are refusing to pay the €8 million release clause in his contract at Napoli.
That decision effectively tells how much Roman Abramovich is determined not to spend crazy money anymore. So the question is, if the manager to turn things around at the club will not be bailed out of his Napoli contract to push through a move to London, how would Chelsea suddenly pay over €100 million for either Lewandowski or Icardi this summer? Or the £179m Daily Star said Chelsea will pay for three Napoli players to change Chelsea’s squad for the coming season.
The signals from Stamford Bridge is poor and soon, the fans will begin to understand why there’s no need following the hype in the transfer rumors.
