Nobody believed it could happen, but it has. West Bromwich Albion have just beaten Tottenham Hotspur 1-0, keeping not only their survivial hopes alive, but also meaning Chelsea are still in with a shout of making the top four.
Until now it seemed the Blues’ best chance was beating Liverpool tomorrow and hoping the Reds dropped points against Brighton on the last day. That seemed almost impossible given the goal difference swing that would be necessary.
However now Spurs have also slipped up, a win tomorrow for Chelsea will put them in a great position to capitalise on any slipup from our greatest rivals too.
It’s still a massive long shot, but it’s possible, when it didn’t seem like it would be not long ago.
Anything can happen, as today’s game proved more than ever.
Now the Blues have to go out at Stamford Bridge tomorrow and get the job done.
