The Daily Telegraph has just reported some interesting news. According to the paper, Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Anthony Martial at Manchester United.
Plenty of clubs have made smart moves picking up players who fell out with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea – just see Kevin de Bruyne, Mo Salah and Juan Mata to start with. Now it could be Chelsea’s chance to turn the tables.
Martial has always shown immense promise as a player since breaking through at Monaco. He has amazing pace, and a deadly eye for goal when he’s in the mood.
Things haven’t worked out for him at Manchester United, but that’s hardly surprising given his managers have been Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. Neither of those two are particularly good at developing creative, mercurial attacking players.
The Telegraph report also mentions that the French international’s contract runs out in 2019, although there is an extension clause, so United may be more inclined to sell than normal, given there’s effectively just two years left come this summer.
