Chelsea’s hunt for a new manager is grabbing all the headlines at the moment, and it’s an open secret that Antonio Conte will be leaving this summer – it’s just a question of whether he jumps before he’s pushed now.
But as Chelsea look down their shortlist for new managers, they might consider thinking about someone a little closer to home.
In quotes carried by ESPN today, Chelsea hero Frank Lampard has said that he’s completed his A Licence and is looking to go into coaching proper now.
The former Blues midfielder has been spending plenty of time at the club while doing his badges, so there’s no question the hierarchy will know what stage he’s at. Starting out at a top club like Chelsea is a little risky, but he could certainly come in as a coach to help whoever takes over this summer.
Alternatively, he could take a lower league job – the Ipswich role is vacant and Frank’s already been linked with that job.
