Established Polish website Sport.pl has published fresh claims that Chelsea are chasing Robert Lewandowski, and have made contact with his representatives.
There’s been a sense in Germany for some time that the forward wants a new club, and feels that he has reached the end of the road at Bayern Munich. Real Madrid have been at the front of the queue to sign the Polish forward, but now their interest appears to have cooled as they focus their attention of Neymar.
It will be a very tough deal to swing for Chelsea. Players like Lewandowski who are just hitting their peak want to be playing in the Champions League, not scratching around in the Europa. The Blues would have to really convince him that their project is worth joining, and that glory is guaranteed in the short term.
That will depends a lot on who is appointed manager, and one of their first tasks will be trying to persuade big names like Lewandowski to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
