Manchester United were defeated by Brighton last night as the Seagulls secured their Premier League status, and the performance by some of United’s players has lead to some pretty serious backlash on social media.
Chief among those victimised is Anthony Martial, the French attacker who has seen a few too many of these performances lead to him falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho.
The former Monaco man has been heavily linked with a summer transfer away from United for this reason, and Chelsea are among those club apparently interested in his services.
The shocker he had last night is good news in that it will hopefully lower United’s asking price even more, but it also raises some questions.
The poor time he’s had in Manchester has been largely blamed on his managers, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. But last night his abject play was nothing but his own responsibility.
Do Chelsea really want to take a massive financial risk on a player who has failed to prove himself after several years in the Premier League?
