With Chelsea’s thoughts now turning to the summer transfer window, it’s natural for fans to wonder about who will be going as well as who will be arriving.
At centre back, the club have a glut of players at the moment and looking at the older end of the scale, it’s probably odds on that one of David Luiz and Gary Cahill will be on their way.
Both have been great servants for the club but there’s no room in the squad for the two of them.
Choosing who to sell is a tough one. Luiz is younger and has a higher profile, and so would probably go for more money, but he probably has the potential to play more in the first team next season.
Cahill also has the benefit of being a positive dressing room influence, wheras Luiz may be considered more likely to be unhappy if he’s left out of the first team for extended periods.
