Spanish paper AS today carries some interesting reports about Marco Asensio.
The brilliant young attacker has been the subject of not one but two €150m bids from Premier League teams, according to his agent Horacio Gaggioli.
Now let’s bear in mind that this is his agent speaking. It’s in his interest to talk up interest in his client.
€150m is a lot of money, even today, and the likelihood is that it’s the Manchester clubs who have made those bids, if indeed they exist. Chelsea just aren’t operating on that level anymore. They’re unlikely to spend €150m all summer, let alone on one player.
Ultimately it’s all a moot point anyway. He is the ultimate jewel in Real Madrid’s crown, and they will never sell him. Even if you combined those two bids into one of one €300m monster effort, they would still have second thoughts about letting him go.
