Football Italia today has a report that Chelsea are €4m away from securing Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.
The Napoli boss has already been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at the San Paolo, but he’s still under contract for two more years.
The Blues can have their man for €8m, but want him for half that.
It makes sense to negotiate the price down, but Napoli are in such a strong position. They’re only paying Sarri €1.5m a year, so they can sit tight if they want to and wait for Chelsea to pay up.
With the World Cup just a few weeks away, and the preseason tours and so forth getting underway straight after, there’s no time to waste. Transfers need to be made and Sarri needs to go to work.
Is this delay really worth a few million Euros? Every day counts, and Chelsea have been in limbo for a week now.
