A few days ago we wrote a piece discussing who could be Cesc Fabregas’ heir at Chelsea.
We said that Fabregas had reached the “end of the line” at Stamford Bridge.
Some people in the comments reacted badly to this, considering it disrespectful – especially, as they pointed out – as Cesc had scored our only (and winning) goal against Swansea the week before.
It’s true he scored, and it’s true he’s been great for Chelsea, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the end of the road.
Cesc has been brilliant, but it’s time to move on. He never really had the legs for top level football, but he was kept going by his brilliant brain and quick feet.
Now it’s time for him to step back. The fact that he can occasionally produce a brilliant moment like he did last weekend is a moot point.
The fact that he can’t do it every weekend is the problem.
