Chelsea’s transfer plans may have been boosted by Eden Hazard’s comments about his future after the forward hinted he is ‘happy’ at Stamford Bridge and is not too convinced to move out for Champions League football.
This is contrary to reports in the media that the forward is interested in moving away for Champions League football, as reported by the Daily Mail who said Hazard will stall on his contract extension and push for a move abroad.
However, the former Lille star has rubbished those claims.
Chelsea are in danger of not playing Champions League football next season as they lie fifth in the league standings this season, with only two games to go, despite closing the gap on Tottenham Hotspur who are currently fourth with 71 points.
Any more slip ups by Spurs could hand fourth place to Chelsea – who need to win both remaining games to stand a chance and Hazzard says with or without the elite European competition next season, he is happy at Chelsea.
“I hope (the fans) don’t want to see me leave. I’m doing good things here. I’m happy here. Things can move, or they may not move. We’ll see.
The public adore me, I love my teammates, my family are good here. Of course I want to play in the Champions League, but it isn’t a priority.”
