Italian press report Chelsea target is growing more likely to lavee as Blues aim for Pep’s model

Today’s edition of Chelsea Manager Speculation (TM) comes in the form of a report in Italian Sports paper Il Mattino (The Morning), as translated here by Sport Witness.

Apparently Maurizio Sarri, widely reported to be a candidate for the Chelsea job, has a very small chance of staying in Italy next season.

It’s not clear whether that will be because he’s at Chelsea, but that certainly seems like his most likely destination, along with Arsenal.

No other clubs can offer him budgets that big, and while Chelsea won’t be in the Champion League next season, there’s plenty of potential there.

Sarri has had a serious impact at Napoli, bringing a Guardiola-style hyper-fast pressing and passing game.

There’s no guarantee it would work at Chelsea, but if Roman Abramovich is feeling jealous of the beautiful football being played by the new champions, it’s certainly an option for the owner to try and bring a similar style to West London.
