Lampard – Gerrard rivalry set to continue as club legend prepares to accept huge job

They seem to get on well off the pitch, but the endless comparisons between Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have set them up as eternal rivals.

According to the BBC, Steven Gerrard is about to become Rangers manager. This is a pretty big step up for the Liverpool legend, currently coaching the youth teams at his former club. Going from there to one of Britain’s biggest club’s is a huge ask, especially given how far behind they are Celtic, who secured yet another league title last week.

Frank Lampard looks set to make his start in management soon too. The Chelsea man has been linked with the Ipswich job that has been vacant since Mick McCarthy walked out last month.

That’s a slightly lower profile job, but one that presents a different challenge to taking over at struggling Rangers.

Whatever happens, it’s just typical that the two midfield engines are taking to management at the same time… we know who we’re backing!
