The Chelsea youth system has produced many good players in recent years, but the one gap in its CV is a top goalkeeper.
That’s why hopes are high for Jamal Blackman, who has been with the club his whole life. He’s had a few loans scratching around the English lower leagues, and this year he really looked like he’d made the step up as he joined a Sheffield United team who looked like they were going to be in contention for the playoffs until just recently.
The Blades fell short however, and Blackman’s loan was terminated with a game still to go, denying him the chance to say goodbye to the fans. This has made plenty of United fans on Twitter pretty angry, as you can see in the responses to the Tweet below announcing his departure.
Despite this late oddity, it was a good season for Jamal, and we will see him back in the Championship again next season in all likelihood.
Loanees Jamal Blackman and James Wilson have returned to their respective clubs early

Don’t even give blackman the respect of seeing out the last game and getting thanks from the fans. Tight bastards to save a weeks wages no doubt coz playoff hopes ended last week.

Blackman would’ve been a great signing. Wages too high maybe?
