Michael Ballack is being considered as a replacement for Michael Emenalo as director of football at Chelsea, according to a report carried by the Evening Standard.
Ballack is well regarded by Chelsea fans. He had a short stay at the club but made himself an instant fan favourite with his superb performances that drove the team forward at the time when they had perhaps their best ever first XI.
He has already been considered for an ambassadorial role, but the senior staff at the club, including director Marina Granovskaia, are now considering upgrading that to director of football.
That would be a bit of a risk given Ballack has not previously held such a position, but his amazing success on the pitch with Chelsea and other clubs may convince them he’s the man for the job.
Emenalo left before Christmas, and no word on a replacement from the club has been heard since then.
