“Millions of reasons” why Chelsea’s Sarri deal isn’t done

Italian website CalcioMercato is well plugged in on news from the peninsula, so it’s no surprise that they know that the situation is regarding the situations of Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri – the current and the future Chelsea boss.

They claim that there was an all day meeting between the club and Sarri’s management yesterday, but there’s still work to be done.

According to them, “millions” of Euros are the issue – both the contract that Sarri will be offered, and the payoff that Conte’s team are negotiating for.

While it seems like an interminable and pointless delay for the fans hanging in the balance to find out more about the future of their club, there fevered hours of negotiation mean a lot – and a lot of money – for clubs.

The combined deal to get rid of one manager and get another in is going to cost a truly huge amount. Yet another reason to get this appointment right.
