Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a growing profile after an excellent loan with Crystal Palace, and it’s only going to grow if he’s selected for Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
In his interesting interview with the Daily Mail, Loftus-Cheek says he’s expecting to be back at Chelsea for pre-season.
That’s great news for Blues fans who are hoping to see him integrated into the first team next season.
We don’t know who the new manager will be, but whoever they are they will have plenty of games from this season to consider, plus hopefully some cameos from Russia.
That, combined with this preseason RLC is talking about, should give the midfielder plenty of time to impress his new gaffer.
Whether that will be enough time to convince the mystery boss he’s good enough to play regularly in the first team isn’t certain. What is certain is that a season sitting on the bench at Chelsea would be the worst of both worlds.
