Chelsea fans are frankly afraid of the FA Cup final at this point in time.
It’s the only trophy we have left to play for, and the last chance for the team to recover some dignity this season, but despite that, nobody is looking forward to kick-off at Wembley.
The reason is that, unlike last year, Blues fans have no confidence that we can win.
That’s partly down to our own team’s struggles, especially against big teams, since the turn of the year.
But it’s also because of who we’re facing. Losing to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will be more painful even than losing to Wenger’s Arsenal last year.
The one shred of good news around is that Romelu Lukaku is out injured, and has missed United’s last two games.
According to Jose Mourinho’s press conference yesterday however, the Belgian will be touch and go for the final:
“We hope he can play the final, he’s in Belgium having his treatment in the communication between the doctors in Belgium and our medical department,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by football.london.
At this stage it still looks like Lukaku will play, but perhaps he will at least not be operating at full power at Wembley.
