According to reports across the media today, including in broadsheets like the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are interested in signing Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, with an offer of £3om set to be tabled.
If that doesn’t seem like a lot of money for a top class Premier League player, that’s because his contract runs out in a year’s time, so clubs will be able to agree a pre-contract with him for a free transfer in January.
We’re a long way off this deal being completed, in fact we don’t even know the truth of the rumours about a bid, but it’s easy to see why the Blues would be interested.
With Maurizio Sarri looking like he’s going to play a 433, Ramsey would be the perfect man to bring some goals and attacking threat to add to the tackling of N’Golo Kante and the passing of Jorginho.
It might take more than £30m to get him, but that would still be great value if it means constructing such a well balanced trio in the middle of the park.
