Major Chelsea striker target on the verge of completing unexpected move

Gonzalo Higuain has shocked the footballing world by apparently agreeing a loan move to AC Milan.

The forward has been a huge hit at both Napoli and Juventus, and he will now move to another Italian giant on loan, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea had been heavily linked with the striker for weeks, with the Maurizio Sarri connection to his time at Napoli adding a decent bit of weight to the idea. The Daily Mail report that the Blues interest in the Argentine forward was concrete, but now after all that interest, the striker is staying put in Serie A.

It leaves Chelsea at a bit of a crossroads. Higuain was one of the few top class strikers on the market this summer, thanks largely to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juve. Where do the Blues turn now? Do they give up and keep faith with Alvaro Morata for another year? Or do they lower their sights and aim for a lower level of forward?
