How £100m Christian Eriksen deal would affect two Chelsea transfers

The Independent have gone big with a major transfer story today: Christian Eriksen’s potential summer switch to Real Madrid.

Facts are still scarce, and there’s plenty of speculation in there, but there are some concrete statements too. Firstly that Spurs would want £100m for the midfielder if he goes this summer, and secondly that Real Madrid –  who would clearly intend to pay less than that – would fund such a fee with sales from their first team.

That could affect Chelsea in two major ways.

Firstly, any deal for Eriksen would prevent a move for Eden Hazard. The two play very different roles on the pitch, but both are worth vast sums, and if Real sign the Dane, they won’t have enough left over for Hazard.

Secondly, top of the chopping block when it comes to raising cash is Isco, who’s once again fallen out of favour with his manager at the Bernabeu. We’ve been linked with the playmaker before, and this might be the chance we’re looking for.

So all Chelsea fans should have their fingers crossed that Eriksen gets his way. That would weaken Spurs, mean a Hazard move is less likely, and make Isco a gettable target.
