Though Chelsea have historically been an established top four club, the emergence of Manchester City and Tottenham has complicated matters.
In the last decade, Spurs and Man City have grown strong in the Premier League and have resolutely competed for the title every season. The added competition means the top four now has become a top six. With Liverpool and Manchester City challenging for the title this year, it leaves the remaining teams to go head-to-head for the two other Champions League positions.
The Blues are currently sixth in the standings, in a tight battle to make next season’s elite European competition with Man United, Arsenal and Spurs. After the 1-1 draw with Wolves last Sunday, Chelsea face an uphill task, with less than 10 games to go to the end of the campaign.

Chelsea are four points off third-placed Tottenham, two points off Arsenal who lie fourth and one point below Man United on fifth but Sarri believes his side will rally and make the most of the games remaining.
Sarri is quoted by Bleacher Report saying:
“When you have only 10 matches, every match you’re not able to win is a missed opportunity. Today was a great opportunity but we were not able to gain three points. In the last six matches, we won four and drew the other two, so there is a little consistency in this moment.
We have to think only to the next match. We need to recover two points immediately. As I said before, we are in the moment of consistency. We have only to continue. We are confident of course. We have to be confident.”
