Chelsea are hoping that appointing Frank Lampard will be a key part of persuading Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Chelsea.
The Sun are reporting that the club are considering bringing in Lampard as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement in part because he will be able to convince Hudson-Odoi his interests are best served by staying at the club.
The fact that Lampard has worked with Chelsea’s young players with great success already will hopefully show our young academy product that a year without transfers, with Lampard in charge, will be a great boost to his career.
His deal expires next summer, so all eyes are on Callum whether or not he extends his deal. The injury he suffered earlier in the spring will put him out of action for some time, and may well swing him in to signing on here.
Previous rumours in that same paper have claimed we’re close to getting his signature – let’s hope that turns out to be the case, and that it’s Frank who makes the difference.
