Christian Pulisic has been rewarded for his contribution to the United States of America’s march to the Gold Cup final against Mexico last weekend.
The USA failed to beat their South American counterparts on Sunday. Jonathan dos Santos scored the only goal in the final that saw the USMNT fall short in matching the feat by their female compatriots when they beat the Netherlands to the Women’s World Cup, hours earlier.
Pulisic scored three goals and grabbed three more assists in the Gold Cup and was awarded the best young player of the tournament.
The Chelsea new signing was involved in almost every attacking move the USA made in the competition and his five appearances all produced wins for his side. The 20-year old forward signed for Chelsea in January but was sent back to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of last season.
He is due to return to Frank Lampard’s side in the coming weeks for pre-season and the Chelsea fans will hope he brings this top form to the club in the coming season.
