“The academy is too good” Some Chelsea fans excited after watching the Under-23s

The Chelsea Development squad beat Liverpool Development squad 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last night, and there was a handful of names floating around social media after some very impressive performances.

First teamers Michy Batshuayi and Antonio Rudiger both played 90 minutes for match fitness, and the youngsters made sure that they didn’t completely steal the show.

With first team coaches Frank Lampard, Jody Morris, and Joe Edwards all watching on, there will be a number of players who would have caught there eyes last night.

Some names that were getting Chelsea fans excited were Tino Anjorin, Juan Castillo, Ian Maatsen, Billy Gilmour, Tariq Lamptey, and Marc Guehi in particular.

Anjorin is just like watching Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but he appears even more developed than Ruben was at that age, he’s only just turned 17.

Gilmour also plays with total confidence and is happy to receive the ball in any area on the pitch, no matter how many players he has around him. A trait that will do well in today’s football of high pressing and keeping the ball.
