Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori is in line for a new contract with the club, reveals Simon Johnson of The Evening Standard.
Johnson believes that the defender is now in a good position to earn an improved deal at Stamford Bridge, due to his now first team squad status.
David Luiz joined Arsenal for £8 million on deadline day, as reported by The BBC.
This then left a space open in Frank Lampard’s squad for Tomori to step up into.
The 21-year old was in advanced talks with Everton over joining them on loan, before the Luiz to Arsenal move transpired, as reported by Johnson.
However, Tomori will now become a first team Chelsea player, and will be hoping for plenty of game time in order to stake his claim for a regular spot.
Having been a regular for Lampard on loan at Derby County last season, Tomori will feel that he can do enough to get plenty of chances to shine this season.
