Chelsea stopper linked with Real Madrid move – but it would leave Kepa exposed

Chelsea fans have become intimately acquainted with Real Madrid’s goalkeeper situation over the last few years.

Having chased David de Gea for years, the club from the Spanish capital turned their attention to Thibaut Courtois, and once he had successfully ruined his legacy at Chelsea, they got their man.

Now they’re all in on the Belgian, and that means letting former #1 Keylor Navas walk away. Once that’s done, they will need another backup, and The Sun reckon they are interested in Willy Caballero, our well loved and reliable second choice from the past few seasons.

Now it’s not certain he would like to go. Why uproot your happy family from England just to go and ride a different bench somewhere?

On the other hand, playing behind Courtois is always a route to first team action. Maybe he truly backs himself to have a shot in Spain?

Either way, it’s unlikely to see Chelsea sanction this move, which would leave 19 year old Jamie Cumming as Kepa’s backup. That would leave us one twisted ankle away from throwing Jamie in very much at the deep end.
