Frank Lampard “delighted” at this one player’s performance after first win

Frank Lampard has been speaking to the BT Sport cameras after the game against Norwich, and the Chelsea boss was full of praise for his young team, as you might expect.

So far he’s proved to be quite conservative in interviews, quite in contrast to the way his team plays on the pitch. Every victory in preseason was met with cautious optimism, and he’s been quick to point out problems even after wins.

Today he was in a similar vein, not wanting to get carried away, but also clearly showing pride in his young players who performed so well.

Tammy Abraham came in for particular praise, with Lampard saying that he was “delighted” for the young forward, who scored twice.

Lampard showed great faith in the striker to start him again today, and as the man himself put it, “he’s starting, he’s competing.”

That spot up front is surely his to lose now.
