Chelsea’s latest reported transfer target has been speaking to the media about the club’s alleged interest in him.
Lewis Cook was considered one of England’s brightest talents when he was at Leeds, and he earned a move to Premier League Bournemouth off the back of that promise.
It’s been slow going since arriving on the South Coast however, with injuries and good players ahead of him preventing him from really making an impact until this season.
Now he’s playing regularly and impressing, leading to these links to Chelsea and Liverpool in recent days.
In quotes carried by the Daily Express, the midfielder played down the transfer talk, as one might expect.
“I had been out for a long time, so I am just focusing on Bournemouth at the moment,” the centre mid said of his injuries.
“I am loving being back and playing football. I just forget about it (the speculation) really,” he went on.
“You’ve just got to focus on your football here and keep enjoying it. I am obviously enjoying playing football again – that’s all I am focusing on right now.”
If he keeps playing well, the interest won’t go anywhere. But he’s right – his first focus should be on getting this full season under his belt with the Cherries.
