Yesterday we were focused on the England squad that was announced by Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The addition of academy players Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, joining Mason Mount (and eventually Ruben Loftus-Cheek) in the first team was a real thrill.
But today the U21 team was announced, and the number of Blues there is even more ridiculous. Check out this Tweet from Chelsea Youth:
Remarkably, the squad also features Eddie Nketiah, Rhian Brewster and Jonathan Panzo, meaning 7 of the 23 players spent significant parts of their development at Cobham.

That’s just ridiculous. 7 of the 23 were trained for a decent part of their career in Chelsea’s youth system, and if you consider that Tammy, Mason, Fikayo and Ruben could all still play for this team technically… forget England’s golden generation, this is Chelsea’s golden generation!
Of course it’s a real shame that Brewster, Panzo and Nketiah all left… but perhaps they will be looking back now at Frank’s wonderkids and regretting their decisions.
You can always come home, boys! The doors are open…
