Ajax could be pivotal game for Chelsea fitness hell

Chelsea have really had a tough season injury wise. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been out since the end of last season, Willian picked up a knock over the summer. Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Emerson have all missed significant time. Then there’s been all kinds of minor issues for others along the way.

This weekend was looking likely to be a turning point for us, but according to this report in the Evening Standard, Wednesday against Ajax looks like it will be equally crucial.

It names Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger as all almost fit for this weekend, but not yet ready. That lines up Wednesday perfectly for a return for all 3.

Then there’s Emerson, also likely to return for that vital Champions League game.

So as much as we wish it could be this weekend, next week looks more like the turning point where we can finally say Frank Lampard is playing with a full deck of cards.
