Antonio Rudiger is close to handing Frank Lampard a huge boost when he returns from injury in the near future.
The Sun have a report which claims that the Germany defender is almost ready to return from a “freak” groin injury he suffered slipping on a metal plate near the touchline at Wolves.
That was itself his return game from a knee problem that has been bothering him since the end of last season.
This weekend will clearly be too soon. They admit as much in the report that it’s “unlikely” he features, and that’s pretty clear – he’s not even in full first team training yet.
The defence has been the weak point in this team, and we all know that Rudiger will add a huge amount to this side when he’s back. The focus now must be on not rushing him. He’s ready when he’s ready, and not a moment before.
We can last a week or two more without him, as long as our attacking players can keep up their scoring.
